Integrating Health Care and Self-Care

We are looking for LMTs or students who are nearing graduation who have excellent basic massage skills, intellectual curiosity, and a strong desire to build competence in working with:

• Clients with complex or serious medical conditions (cardiac conditions, surgery, life-altering disease or injuries, cancer, fibromyalgia, etc.)

• Clients who are medically fragile (bruise easily, use oxygen, have medical implants or replacement joints, clot easily)

• Clients with psychological, neurological, and/or emotional complications or fragility (PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, stroke, dementia)

This job includes PAID Advanced Skills Training, based on an apprenticeship model.

Pay scale will be similar to that at massage chain stores and local spas, and will be dependent on experience, skill level, and education. You will be paid PER MASSAGE HOUR. Our clients also tend to tip generously. 

​

Schedule and time commitment are subject to availability. Employment could be full or part time, but a minimum of three "shifts" a week are expected, with a minimum of 450 massage hours per year. Our office is open seven days a week, and an example of a typical shift is 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Other blocks of time may be available.

Who We're Looking For:

We hope to attract ethical, compassionate, skilled (or soon-to-be-skilled) massage therapists. Whether you're nearly straight out of high school or this is your fifteenth career, we know that in massage, we bring more to our clients than just pressure levels and the ability to identify muscles. 

​

That being said, few massage therapists are willing and able to do the deep intellectual and emotional work required to be part of the Patient Relaxation staff. Many of our clients are facing life-altering realities, and we have to be able to handle that compassionately while still keeping our own centers intact.
